Itachuna Palace under Dadpur PS takes us back At the time (mid-18th Century) when Bengal was ruled by Nawab Alivardi Khan. The Maratha cavalries, known as Bargis, strode into a peaceful Bengal around 1742, looking for its rich land and taxes. Nawab Alivardi fought heroically to save his kingdom, but the consequences of the attacks were devastating. However, like every other war in history, this Maratha Invasion left a cultural mark in Bengal. The beautiful landscapes and nature’s bounty led many “Borgis” to settle here. One of such Borgi warriors were the Kundans, now known as Kundus. Shri Safallya Narayan Kundan (Kundu) constructed the Royal Palace of Itachuna in the year 1766. The place is still locally known as Borgidanga.
