Garalgachha under Chanditala PS is a weekend destination of tourists which bears a glorious past. Pandit Santosh Mohan Vidyabagish of Bardhaman district settled here on a non-taxable gifted land by Nawab of Murshidabad with the Royal consent of King of Bardwan. His two sons Gokulchandra and Radhanath started Durga Puja in this house nearly 250 years ago. It is said that the great devotee Ramprasad Sen used to come to this pujo and sing in his own voice on the eighth day(Ashtami) of the Durga puja. Once it is heard that the great Sri Ramakrishna Dev came here to pay homage to this Durga Puja. But he was very angry to see the ongoing sacrifice process of a baby goat towards Goddess Durga on the eve of Sandhi puja and since then the ritual of sacrifice in the Durga Puja of this house has been stopped.
